Lava Show is a unique tourist attraction that recreates the conditions of a volcanic eruption by heating real lava to 1,100°C and allowing it to flow in close proximity to visitors. The company was founded in 2010 and opened its first exhibition in Vík í Mýrdal in 2018. A second exhibition was later opened at Grandi in Reykjavík in 2022.
SÍA V invested in Lava Show in 2026.
The private equity fund SÍA V has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the share capital of Sómi ehf., one of Iceland’s oldest and best-known food manufacturing companies specializing in sandwiches and ready-made meals. The acquisition also includes its subsidiary, Þykkvabær ehf., and is subject to approval by the Icelandic Competition Authority.
For decades, Sómi, Júmbó and Þykkvabær have been among the leading brands in the Icelandic consumer market. The group produces a wide range of sandwiches, wraps, salads and other ready-made meals sold through supermarkets, petrol stations and retail outlets across the country. Through the acquisition, SÍA V aims to further strengthen the companies’ operations, support continued product development and meet growing consumer demand for quality and freshness in line with evolving lifestyles and consumption patterns.
